During this period, the USS Calvert and crew:

  • Preparation and training for the amphibious assault landing at Leyte, PI.
  • Amphibious exercises in the vicinity of Hawaii during the month of September.
  • Transit to the staging area for the invasion of Leyte, including amphibious exercises.
  • Amphibious landing at Leyte, Philippines, October 20-21.
  • Amphibious landing (reinforcements) at Leyte, Philippines, November 18.
  • Preparation for follow-on assault landings in the Philippines, planned for early 1945.
