Herbkilmer@reagan.com Same question. Arrived DaNang Dec 65 on some sort of floating drydock ship with a load of swift and PT boats from Subic Bay. Worked out of the White Elephant and slept on a couple of diferent ships. Slept in troupe quarters with salt water showers. Records show I was transferred on to the USS Hitchiti in DaNang harbor on March 1, 1966. Records show leaving San Francisco Dec. 1965. No records between. Need to show boots on ground, medical issues.
Served on the USS Calvert APA 32 in 1964 & 1965 in the BC Division. West Pac , DaNang. Then transferred to the USS Catamount LSD 17 as the head coxswain. Served on her in 1965 & 1966.
Hey Dan and others
Broussard EN2 in Boatshop. We were station ship in Da Nang Harbor from around Thanksgiving 65 to Late Jan or Feb 66. We shuffled a lot of cargo off those civilian vessels.
Hello to all:
Dennis Willess EN3. I enjoyed my time aboard Calvert. The heavy work load in NAM was tiring and rewarding. Arrived on board 28 APR 65–TRAN 30 JUNE 66. After Calvert was stationed (COMNAVPHIL} USNS SANGLEY POINT Philippines 8-3-66 to 1-17-68. After re-enlistment assigned to TU 116.5.2/Coastal Division 13{CosDiv13} Black Cat Division on PCFs 71,55,60 {Swift Boats} from 13 DEC 69 to 5 DEC 70. Discharged at Corpus Christi 12/10/70.
Served on the USS Calvert 1965 and 66. I was on board 1 1/2 years for 1 and a halve West Pacs. We inadvertently went on the first neary by accident. We were were going to play with the Marines off the strand and drop them of and pick them ujo as a landing drill. BUT we were requested to anchor and wait further orders. We waited over night and the next day received orders to Hawaii. We stayed in Hawaii 30 days os . We didn’t know what we were doing but we were off loading blanks and loading live ammo. We ended up taking the marines to Okinawa. We weren’t there long. Came home to Sad Diego and went on our regular Wst pac later
